Guidelines For First Date Safety

Amongst all the nerves and excitement of meeting someone for the first time in person, it is easy to forget the simple precautions you should take. No matter how long you have been talking to a person, always be on guard. Read the following guidelines for a more comfortable first date experience!

Don’t let him know your address until you feel you know him enough. Plan to meet him somewhere in public. You may like to go out as a group or with another couple for the first date
Make sure someone knows where you are and whom you are with. Arrange a friend to call you or see you after your date.
Offer to pay for half the bill; you may not want to feel in debt to him.
Avoid secluded areas such as alleyways.
Don’t drink too much that you are not in control of what you are doing. If you are drinking, stay in sight of your drink at all times and don’t get so drunk that you will not remember what you have done the next day.
Ensure you have organised your own transport to go home.
Don't assume that a man is safe just because both of you really connect on the phone or email. Always stay alert.
Avoid secluded areas such as parks.
Listen to your intuition. If something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
